A New beginning, but same old Levy.
A New beginning, but same old Levy.
Since I wrote my last
article, I’ve been to Italy and saw our team put up a good battle against PSG
before succumbing to the penalty shootout, and then a dejected journey home.
Never mind… our season took off to a magnificent start/ victory at home to
Burnley (3-0), followed by a trip to the City stadium where we outplayed our
hosts, scoring two goals against them to win the game. The first game was
regarded as relegation fodder, the second against possible Premier League winners.
Even though we beat Man
City 4-0 under Ange last season, this was a better all-around performance.
Thomas the Frank Engine has definitely made his mark on our team tactically. No
doubt some will say that we had a good start under Ange when he joined… but
with Thomas, he had a good track record in the Premier League beforehand, where
Ange didn’t… just luck and bluster in a one-team Scottish Premier League and
before that, minor Asian/ Australian teams. Anyway, he has gone, and a new dawn
is upon us… nearly… we still have the fatalistic Levy wielding the Money axe
and trying to cripple Thomas before he has even got going with his
tight-fistedness.
It all looked good;
after moulding our team into something resembling a prosperous fighting machine
and top players on the horizon, then along comes Levy’s negotiating tactics
and fucks it all up.
First up, we saw Tottenham
stunned as Morgan Gibbs-White signed a deal to stay at Nottingham Forest. Trying
to save money and thought he could negotiate a good deal, Levy let Gibbs-White
slip through his fingers… The 25-year-old was expected to make a £60m move to us
after we triggered a release clause. Finally, he signed a new contract with
Forest for a brighter future than ours (he believed).
Next up, we saw Eberechi
Eze sign for Arsenal in a £67.5m deal from Crystal Palace after his move to us
was hijacked. Again, Levy tried to get the deal cheaper but saw the Gooners jump
in with what Palace wanted. Since then, names have come and gone while Levy and
team continue to prevaricate. Levy never changes… just fucks up.
He says his proudest
moment was the building of the stadium, nothing about the team or winning
trophies… He is an accountant by trade and money is his interest… not football.
Football or Tottenham is just a means to an end.
When I went to the
City game, before there was even a kick of a ball, our fans were singing #Levy
out, we want Levy out# and continued throughout the whole game.
We recognise what a
brilliant start Thomas Frank is having… but we also know that Levy is tying his
hands up behind his back and at the same time kicking him in the bollocks… just
as he has done to all the managers under his reign.
Next up will be
Bournemouth, at home, with the transfer window closing on Monday (1st
September). We will only get anybody, though, if they are cheap enough and
stupid enough to play under Levy’s ironclad control.
I ended my last
article with the ABBA song "Money, money, money in a rich man’s
world," so true. Levy is absolutely getting richer through Tottenham
Hotspur FC.
It took Levy 20-odd
years to win two minor trophies… how long do we have to wait until we win
another minor one? As for UEFA Champions League, Premier League, or even FA
Cup… Levy has more important issues to deal with, such as being given the key
to the City of London and having a statue erected in his honour.
Levy’s priorities are
not the same as people like me – lifelong Tottenham Hotspur supporters, who are
invested in the team… not making money for our own benefit… in fact, it is
costing us money, while Levy is making money hand over fist.
At the moment I am
predicting the League table to end like this: -
City to win the
League, followed by Liverpool, Arsenic, Chelsea and to be relegated; the
Spammers, Sunderland and Burnley.
If we had bought Eze,
Gibbs-White and City’s Savinho, I would have predicted a top-four finish. Even,
possibly challenging for the Title. But same old, same old from Levy and his
henchmen.
All the best, and
COYS!
Glenn
