Daniel Levy has issued a huge spending warning to our fans about the club’s ability to continue investing in the first-team squad.
Daniel,
the man, issues a warning… about spending. So no more hair-brained ideas about
spending big on our club. Besides, there are more important things other than
football… like entertainment acts, boxing, go-karts, etc…
Daniel Levy has
issued a huge spending warning to our fans about the club’s ability to continue
investing in the first-team squad after the board released their financial
results for the year ending June 2024.
Through our official
website, Tottenham has released the detailed numbers for the year ending June
2024; we registered a loss. Revenues have decreased by 4% to £528.2m due to a
reduction in match receipts (this is due to fewer matches) and the lack of UEFA
money due to not being involved in Europe last season. And whose fault is that?
What do you expect if you don’t invest in the team and don’t get the right
manager?
However, there is a
plus side: Tottenham’s TV and Media revenues rose from £148.1m to £165.9m,
while commercial revenues grew from £227.7 m to £255.2m.
This means that poor
investment in the team will continue as it has since Levy took over. Whether
Ange is there or not, or a cheaper version of him… we won’t be competing any
time soon, with competitive clubs like Arsenic, City, Liverpool, or even Forest
do.
Levy pointed to these
numbers and warned that the club’s transfer spending over the last few years is
not sustainable (a word he has used continuously since taking over the club…
spending is not sustainable). He made it clear that he and the board would not
make any decisions that would jeopardise the club's long-term financial
stability, which probably means not risking the success of his other acts that bring
in the money for him and the board.
Interestingly, it is
not sustainable for Tottenham or Levy. Still, it is sustainable for the other
top-winning clubs… and who keep winning trophies and continuously get places in
the Champions League…
To be honest, there
is nothing new here or anything he has been preaching since coming to our club.
When I look at our
next game against Chelsea, our game against Southampton, or even our Europa
games, I can only feel gloom and doom in my heart… and I’ve been going since my
dad took me in the late 50s. Even when we got relegated in the 70s, there was
hope… I don’t see it now…
If Ange fails to get
us into European football next year through the Europa League, he will be
replaced by another wannabe… and the cycle will repeat itself indefinitely or
at least while Levy is in charge.
This article was supposed
to be about our prospects against Chelsea and our other up-and-coming matches.
In my previous article, I compared Ange to Humpty Dumpty, where even Levy or
the fans' army couldn’t put the cracked eggshell back together again. Nobody
coming to our club will ever be put back together again after their traumatic
times under Daniel's command. Unless they leave or get fired.
There is good news,
though, for those who fail under Levy… go somewhere else to resurrect your career
and be successful… just like Nuno Espírito Santo did. He is now managing
Nottingham Forest to success. Everywhere he has gone, he has worked well… until
he comes to Tottenham and gets a blip in his career… as every manager who comes
here and fails.
Reading Daniel Levy’s
statement. It seems that the club is unwilling to take a gamble and jeopardise
its long-term financial interests.
The catchphrase
"We're doomed!" is famously associated with Private James Frazer, a
fictional character from the BBC sitcom Dad's Army, played by John Laurie; if
he were a Spurs supporter, then he would have been right when he said, “We are
doomed… doomed, I say.” I would prefer
the more colloquial “We are fucked”. It doesn’t matter who is in charge of the
team… it still will be Levy pulling the strings… until football finally
vanishes from Tottenham.
From 1882, the founders and those who came afterwards steadily built a footballing legendary brand, and Glory days and nights finally arrived… and then Levy came… He came, he saw… and he conquered… until nothing was left but the circus clowns laughing all the way to the bank!!!
Up the Spurs!
