Spurs v The Spammers – back on track?
After our disastrous
defeat against Chelski, because two men were sent off, plus injuries to two key
players, we saw an injury-hit Spurs suffer two more losses after that game. That is until we
faced the Premier League and European Champions, where our bad luck was
expected to continue. Miraculously, we held them to a draw and on their ground.
Now, we face the Spammers on our turf… and we are ready and waiting…
My prediction,
team news, lineups etc.
Yes, we return to our
Tottenham Stadium buzzing, fresh from our six-goal fest at the Etihad Stadium
last weekend.
As for the chocolate
fudger Spammers, they also come to us on the back of a draw against Palace (not
the same, admittedly, as their game was more of a mid-to-low table clash).
Match
preview
Before our game, many
journalists asked whether an injury-ravaged Tottenham would have the
credentials to compete away against reigning Premier League champions City. And
the answer was yes. Our injury-slashed team held their own and salvaged a point
in an entertaining 3-3 draw.
With such an injury-ravaged
team taking on such Champions, nobody expected us to have any chance of getting
anything other than a spanking… but Ange showed us what he could do with such a
sticky-taped team.
But that was then,
this is now… and I am sure that that victory (and it felt like a victory) will
be the boost that will give us the momentum to bulldoze us through Christmas to
the January transfer window, and our injured are back in the bosom of Ange’s
revolution.

Our treatment room
includes Rodrigo Bentancur (ankle), James Maddison (ankle), Micky van de Ven
(hamstring), Pape Matar Sarr (muscle), Manor Solomon (knee), Ivan Perisic
(knee), Ryan Sessegnon (thigh), Ashley Phillips (ankle) and Alfie Whiteman
(ankle).
At the same time,
Eric Dier is doubtful after missing the draw with Man City due to a muscle
problem sustained in training.
On the plus side, Cristian
Romero is available for selection after serving a three-match suspension; he is
expected to go straight back into the defence at the expense of Emerson Royal.
I think Postecoglou
is unlikely to make too many changes to his first XI.
Richarlison is back
after undergoing groin surgery.
My
possible starting lineup:
Vicario; Porro,
Romero, Davies, Udogie; Bissouma, Lo Celso; Johnson, Kulusevski, Gil; Son
As for my
Prediction…
In my previous
prediction against City, I predicted a loss; we got a draw. As one wag said,
maybe I should predict a failure against the Chocolate Fudger Spammers so that
we will win… I am not going to do that… but a nice try. So, I feel we are on
the upturn, and I predict a 3-1 victory.
Considering that we
have seen at least three goals scored each of the last five games involving us
and that of the Fudgers, who have found the net in 10 of their previous 11
meetings with us, I expect goals.
As we have shown the
world, we can battle with the best despite our extensive injury list, and while
the Spammers should not be taken lightly, we should do enough to outscore our
opponents en route to claiming our first three points since October 27.
So… that said, I am
looking forward to an exciting game where I see us building on our “victory”
(ok, draw) against possible points deducted, the City rule-fiddlers.
Up the Spurs!
