Wolves v Spurs; prediction, lineup, thoughts, team news and much more…
In my match report
against Chelski, I said, “I am actually looking forward to Saturday’s
game against Wolves. Yes, our back four has been decimated. However, our midfield
was intact (hopefully, Maddison’s problem was minor), and our striking force
was unharmed. The question now is, what can Ange Postecoglou do to resurrect us
or at least our back four? If Conte were still manager, my head would sink into
my hands… but he has gone, and we’ve got something better organising the team.”
Yes, I feel confident,
and I am sure everybody else is satisfied with Ange in charge.
Having lost to
Pochettino’s young Tykes in remarkable circumstances, we now attempt to enter
the international break on a high when we face Wolves this Saturday. And, of
course, if we should win – and I believe we can win - then we go back to the
top of the Premier League table (that is until the other teams get into action,
nevertheless, if we win only City can go above us).
Our nine-man team were
beaten 4-1 with another contentious VAR call.

preview
Wolves…
Last weekend, Wolves fell
victim to a controversial call that went against his side at Bramall Lane,
where newly-promoted Sheffield United clinched their first top-flight win of
the season at the 11th attempt.
Since VAR was introduced, it seems more about
that than the football on the pitch. Premier League football has become a
laughing stock. I wonder what VAR will bring us in calamity terms this weekend?
Spurs…
On the subject of
VAR, we could boast the last unbeaten record standing in the 2023-24 Premier
League season, having witnessed the Gooners fall victim to another dose of VAR
controversy in their 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United (that is within 48 hours).
But we move on…
… and we move on without
Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero, as they were both made to take the walk of embarrassment
on a nightmare evening for our nine-man team.
Extending our
unbeaten run on the road to eight games would be brilliant, and I believe we
can. Nevertheless, we have been beaten in two of our last three Premier League
clashes with Wolves, most recently going down 1-0 at Molineux in March courtesy
of an Adama Traore effort.

team news
Udogie will serve his
one-game ban because of his red card versus the Blue Boys, while Romero will
begin a three-match suspension, which will also see him sit-out meetings with Villa
and City in the coming weeks.
Micky van de Ven
pulled up with what appeared to be a serious hamstring problem on Monday, while
James Maddison was withdrawn owing to a blow to the ankle, but he should
hopefully shake off his affliction in time for Saturday.
Manor Solomon (knee),
Ivan Perisic (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (thigh) and Alfie Whiteman (ankle) will be out.
If Ben Davies cannot recover from his ankle issue, Postecoglou may have no
choice but to throw 18-year-old Ashley Phillips in the mix.
Richarlison has also
announced that he will soon undergo surgery on a pelvic problem, but it is
unclear whether that imminent operation will impact his participation at
Molineux.
My
possible starting lineup:
Vicario; Porro, Dier, Phillips,
Royal; Sarr, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Maddison, Johnson; Son
Prediction…
Confidence!! That is
what Ange has installed into the players and the fans. So, being optimistic, I
shall go for a 1-2 win.
Some have applauded
us for the way we arranged our game against Pochettino’s lame ducks; others
have criticised us for allowing three goals in the final minutes of the game.
You can’t win them all, but Ange is getting there. For Christ’s sake! It was 11
against nine men, so… considering, we did well. The two games this season we
lost were, first, against Fulham, where we scored both goals in a draw and then
lost on a penalty shootout, and our game on Monday, where we were winning and
then got two men sent off… giving Pochettino’s Blues a chance to capitalise on
our misfortunes.
Up the Spurs!
COYS!
Glenn
