Match Preview: Arsenal vs Spurs, my prediction, team news, lineups, etc.
Today (Saturday), I
got an email from Tottenham, it read:
“Dear
Supporter,
Ahead
of Sunday’s visit to the Emirates, we should like to make you aware that the
Metropolitan Police Service will be using Live Facial Recognition technology at
key locations in existing crime hotspots in Islington on the day of the match.
This
technology will be used to find people who threaten or cause harm, including
sex offenders and those who are wanted or have outstanding arrest warrants
issued by the court. It will also be used to identify individuals who are
subject to football banning orders. Signs will indicate where the technology is
in use.
For
more information on the Metropolitan Police Service’s use of Live Facial
Recognition technology, please visit their website here.

Hotspur”
This basically means
– translating – that if you should venture into Arsenic Land, beware of Sex
offenders and all types of perverts, deviants, and criminals from all walks of
life … I thought, what a good advertisement it is for Arsenic Land (they are
obviously on a charm offensive). If possible, keep away, but if you have to
venture into such perverted lands, beware of the shit around you. So, thank
you, we are warned and wary.
Now warned… to the
Arsenic match and all the dangers that surround the area.
We will seek to
continue our undefeated record against Digo-deviants of the land that time
forgot. Yes, Arsenic host the true heirs of North London in this London derby.
Both teams sit on 13
points from the opening five games of the new season. Arsenic, however, will
come into this match after their clash with PSV Eindhoven, hopefully knackered!
But even if they are not, we are ready and waiting.
Match
preview
Richarlison played a
starring role in our most recent showdown with Sheffield United. However,
before Richarlison's introduction from off the bench, we had fallen a goal
behind to Gustavo Hamer's strike. Still, the Blades were left red-faced right
at the death, as Richarlison headed home the leveller before teeing up Dejan
Kulusevski to fire home a sensational late winner in the 10th minute of added
time.
Breaking our own
record for the latest winning comeback in Premier League history, which was
previously held by the Bergwijn-inspired 3-2 success at Leicester City, we
remain without defeat in the top flight since Ange Postecoglou took the reins
and have only performed worse than a perfect Manchester City so far this
season.
Sunday's contest will
mark the 208th competitive North London derby since Arsenal and Spurs first
locked horns in 1896, during which the Gooners were a south-East London side.

Team News…
Ivan Perisic suffered
a serious knee injury in training and will miss most of the season.
Giovani Lo Celso,
Bryan Gil, and Rodrigo Bentancur are all a few weeks away from returning.
My
possible starting lineup:
Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven,
Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Maddison, Son; Richarlison
Prediction…
Even though I’ve
predicted the right result so far (okay, apart from the Brentford game), my
actual goal tally has been way off. I predict high; they go low… I predict low,
and they go high (Burnley, for example).
I can see plenty of
goals in this match… so I shall go for 3-2 to us, of course.
Arsenic 2
Spurs 3
Most Tottenham
supporters will be hoping for a draw, but I am all out for a win.
The Highbury mugger’s
powers can sometimes wane when faced with a low block; nevertheless, both teams
will play attacking football… but I expect we will get the last laugh.
We must also remember
that clean sheets at home still elude the North London pretenders-sneak thieves
in the Premier League, and I am sure this Sunday won’t be an exception.
Either both teams
will drop points, or one will come away with nothing, and I hope it won’t be us
but Arsenic…
MATCH
FACTS
Head-to-head
Arsenic and Old Lace
are seeking to win three consecutive league games against us for the first time
since a run of five between 1987 and 1989. We mustn’t let that happen.
We have won only two
of our 31 Premier League visits to the Gunners, drawing 11 and losing 18.
This is the first
time both sides had come into this fixture unbeaten since 1990 when we both
drew 0-0 at Highbury in the season's third game.
Arsenic and Old Lace
have scored in 24 successive home North London derbies in the Premier League
since a goalless draw in November 1998.
Spurs
We have made our best
start to a league campaign for 58 years, with four wins and one draw from our
opening five fixtures.
We went on a
seven-match unbeaten run from the beginning of last season (W5, D2), and our
first defeat of that campaign was 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
We have scored
multiple goals in each of our opening five games of a top-flight season for
just the third time after 1960-61 and 1965-66.
We are seeking our
200th Premier League away victory.
Ange Postecoglou
could become the first Spurs manager to register an away win in his first North
London derby since Peter Shreeves, whose side won at Highbury on New Year's Day
in 1985.
James Maddison has
been directly involved in 19 goals in his last 21 Premier League away
appearances, with ten goals and nine assists.
So, there you have
it. A game we are all looking forward to… hopefully, there is only one winner
with our unbeaten record still intact.
This game and the
Liverpool game will be our true test.
Remember; they deemed it important enough – and so did
Tottenham – to tell us that anybody entering Arsenic territory be warned of the
sort of people lurking in strange places around North London that inhabits
Arsenic and their stadium. Don’t trust them… be aware and be guarded… deviants can
strike high and low at any minute, a flash of a criminal's eye… Be warned, be
careful and be suspicious, or God help you/ us!
Up the Spurs!
COYS!
Glenn
