Match Preview: Spurs v United. Welcome Ange to our stadium.
That is inaccurate as he had already visited our
stadium when Kane got his four goals and then departed for Germany, against
Shakhtar Donetsk (final score 5-1). But the first proper game in charge at our
stadium. Of course, we – or at least some of us – saw him at the Brentford
stadium (which ended in a draw).
It will be a big day in front of our home crowd.
Cheating United (Wolves should have got a blatant penalty, but it seems the
referee favoured United over Wanderers in the season's opening game), visit our
stadium.
We began our new campaign with a 2-2 draw away
to Brentford.
Match
preview
The team, still trying to adapt to Ange's forward-thinking
philosophy from their Premier League opener against Brentford last weekend,
will probably have a few more hiccups until they determine what he wants to be delivered.
But they are getting there, going by the game against the Bees. Our manager even
warned that it will take some time before every part works smoothly together. His
first three games with Celtic ended in defeats. At least his first game for us
ended in a 2-2 draw.
Our first blood against the Bees was through
Cristian Romero, but our unsolved defensive issues came to the fore once again
as Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa turned the tie on its head for the home side, and
they were missing suspended Ivan Toney.
However, a fine goal from Emerson Royal saw us
walking away with a draw and a point. A fair result? I think so.
Now that is over – a week's training – and now
on to our stadium.
As for United: they just won it, against Wolve,
thanks to a Raphael Varane header, but that wasn't the end of it… Oh, no. Referee
Simon Hooper nor VAR official Michael Salisbury deemed a fowl on Sasa Kalajdzic
inside the box to be a penalty. Both referee and VAR official have been
suspended, but that won't help Wolves.

News
Spurs
Just a few minutes after the opening game,
Romero was taken off with a head injury, and Postecoglou has stated that he
will always be cautious with possible concussions. Should the rules be
followed, Romero would not be available for Saturday's fixture, joining Bryan
Gil (groin), Rodrigo Bentancur (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Fraser
Forster (back) and Alfie Whiteman (ankle) on the sidelines.
With Romero potentially missing out, the door
should swing open for Eric Dier to make his return, and either the Englishman
or Davinson Sanchez should partner Micky van de Ven.
United
Rasmus Hojlund (back), Kobbie Mainoo (ankle),
Tyrell Malacia (knee), Amad Diallo (knee) and Tom Heaton (calf) make up a
quintet of known absentees.
My
possible starting lineup:
Vicario;
Emerson, Sanchez, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bissouma, Skipp, Maddison; Kulusevski,
Richarlison, Son
As for my prediction; ok, I might be pushing the
boat out a bit here, but why not; so…
Spursr 3-2 United
While another new centre-back would not go amiss,
early attacking indications for us under our new boss are promising. James
Maddison, in particular, should be happy after watching Wolves – that is, if he
watched Wolves outplay United - create chance after chance on Monday night.
That is it… a work in process, but I don't think
United is anything that special, going by what I saw when watching the United/ Wolves
game.
Up the Spurs!
Glenn
