The Fixtures for 2023/24 are, and much more…

Any keen football fan won't be able to wait for the big unveiling of the fixtures of a new footballing season. A new beginning, and they are here (well, below). 

City will try to emulate their previous season… probably with the League Cup thrown in. Arsenic will try to emulate their last season's failure of trying to win the league (again) and hope they don't crash out of the top four. And if you are not a Gooner, you'd be hoping they fall all the way down to the bottom of the Premier League. United will continue to be humiliated again by their Manchester adversaries. At the same time, Newcastle can start becoming the team they've always dreamed about since being taken over by Billionaire Arabs and start winning trophies.

As for Chelski: they've got a new manager in Mauricio Pochettino and will hope to get back into winning ways, the top four and win trophies. And if he does, then a whole lot more questions will be asked of Daniel Levy and why he didn't reemploy him and why he failed at Spurs but managed to win trophies at other clubs since he had left us.

As for us… we hope to undo the damage Levy created with his poor management selection and penny-pinching and get back to where a club of Tottenham's status should be. And maybe, yes, maybe win a trophy or two. Levy could show the world that his mindset is not just about making a profit for his stadium and himself; but has a beating cockerel in his heart.

We are, of course, out of any European competition, so Ange "G'day" Postecoglou can concentrate on the league and hopefully capture a trophy or three on the way. Pigs might fly, the Gooners do, so anything is possible.

The opening day of the season….

Brentford take on Ange "G'day" Postecoglou's Spurs in our Premier League season-opening game.

The Bees have won just two of their 10 league meetings with us in their history (D4 L4), though one was a 3-1 victory in their most recent match in May.

The last time we began a Premier League campaign with a London derby was in 2014-15. Then we won 1-0 at the Spammer's ground, and the current Chelski manager, Mauricio Pochettino, was in charge. In fact, it was his first game in charge of us. Brentford, on the other hand, have only won their opening league game in two of the last 11 seasons (D5 L4). However, they've not lost on MD1 in either of their two Premier League campaigns (2-0 v Arsenic in 2021-22, 2-2 v Leicester last season).

As we are in statistics/ facts mod, it is interesting to note that we have lost our opening league game in just one of the last seven seasons (W5 D1), going down 1-0 at home to Everton in 2020-21. I remember that game well; we were truly pissed off and hoped it was not things to come. And, of course, what happened…? But moving on to a new season, new hope and new quests… let us hope things are different this time around… which we say at the beginning of every season…

All fixtures and kick-off times are subject to change due to the broadcast companies' picks and moving for European involvement by opposition sides, domestic cup matches, and any unforeseen postponements.

Well, that is it, folks… we will wait and see what Ange "G'day" Postecoglou comes up with. Despite Levy's string-pulling, if he defies the odds and pulls off something special for the club, he will become a hero.

As for Levy, he either sinks into the background and does what he does best, making money, and allows those who know about football to deal with footballing matters… Or, he sells up, along with Joe Lewis, and hands over to somebody who has the best interests of the footballing side of our club at heart. We can't take much more of any mishandling of our team for the sake of Levy's greater interests; riches.
