Match Preview: Wolves vs Spurs (we need to buck our ideas up!) My prediction, team news, possible lineup and much more…
Both teams have suffered lowly midweek defeats
and hope to get back on track in this Saturday's Premier League contest at
Molineux.
Wolves fell to a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on
Wednesday evening, while we were humbled in our bid to end our 15-year trophy
drought. Yes, Sheffield United embarrassed us with a 1-0 win to go to the
quarter-final of the FA Cup, leaving egg on our faces.
Match
preview…
Wolves…
Wolves lack consistency, and ruthlessness still
plagues them. They have taken just one point from the last nine in the Premier
League and are in danger of being dragged deeper into the relegation zone,
occupying 15th place in the table and sitting just three points clear of the
drop zone.
Wolves seem to be following a pattern of winning
one and then losing one at home in their last six matches in all tournaments. Their
most recent Molineux encounter ending in a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth probably
means we can prepare for another woeful away day if the footballing omens work
against us.
Spurs…
Another shot at domestic cup glory has gone
begging for us. We are now destined to end another season without adding to our
one piece of silverware that we managed to grab in 2008 under hapless Levy, courtesy
of a defeat at Bramall Lane.
A much-changed and lacklustre team succumbed to
Iliman Ndiaye's winner, ending Stellini's perfect record as an interim manager.
At the same time, Conte hides away in a safe house, another avenue to a
long-awaited trophy gone once again.
We'll leave that there…
On a more cheerful note, we saw off a poor Chelski
side. We are now four points clear of Newcastle United. We lost each of our
last three away matches and have little time to recuperate before our next road
trip.

News…
Wolves…
Wolves Hugo Bueno left the field with a
hamstring problem in the 24th minute, and Lopetegui has already ruled the 20-year-old
out of this match. Rayan Ait-Nouri will deputise.
Sasa Kalajdzic, Chiquinho, Hwang Hee-chan and
Boubacar Traore remain sidelined with their long-term problems.
Matheus Cunha could make a recovery from an
ankle injury to make the squad.
Spurs…
Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, Hugo Lloris
and Yves Bissouma are out.
Emerson Royal is expected to shake off the knee
problem that kept him out of the FA Cup.
Whoever takes to the touchline for us this
weekend should oversee many changes, including a recall for Harry Kane, whom
Stellini revealed had been struggling with several viral afflictions recently.
An underwhelming showing for Richarlison will
probably spell the end of his time in the first XI, while Oliver Skipp, Clement
Lenglet and Cristian Romero are all in line for recalls.
My
possible starting lineup:
Forster;
Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Emerson, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Davies; Kulusevski, Kane, Son
Prediction…
Just win and don't fuck it up… but a score-prediction
is what is wanted… so I shall go for a 2-0 win.
Reverting to the system and players that kept Chelski
at bay should do the trick (well, I hope it does), as Wolves' ironic lack of bite
bedevils them against our refreshed regulars.
So, that is it… a win should (hopefully!) shake
off our piss-poor performance against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. All we've
got left now is the hope of getting a top-four spot and progressing as far as
we can in the Champions league… and next year, we start all over again in
trying to win a trophy under Levy's reign… sorry, a second trophy under Levy's
ownership…
Have
a good weekend…
Glenn
