Match Preview: Spurs  vs Leeds United  (My prediction, team news, lineup etc.)

So far, we've lost to Woolwich, the poorer half of Manchester, the Arab-controlled Newcastle, The Scousers and now relegated threatened Forest (in the League Cup). Can we get some normality against a Leeds team near the Premier League's halfway line? Remember that Forest are at the bottom of the Premier League, but that didn't stop them from getting one over on us.

We shall aim to avoid a third successive defeat in all tournaments before the World Cup break.

We lost 2-0 to Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, while Leeds United exited the competition at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Match preview

Spurs

Not since winning the EFL Cup in 2008 have we added to our trophy cabinet.

We had kept up with the likes of Woolwich and the richer part of Manchester, City, and now we are floundering. We have slipped behind Arab-controlled-Newcastle United to fourth in the rankings, while Manchester United are only three points behind with a game in hand.

However, we shall enter the World Cup knowing that our Champions League last-16 place has been confirmed.

We have conceded first in each of our last seven matches in all competitions and are at risk of going four games without a win at home for the first time since June 2020. I hope this doesn't happen… we all hope this doesn't happen. One good point to remember is that we  have scored in all our home encounters this season.

Leeds United

Not since the final three matchdays of the 2020-21 season have Leeds won three in a row in the top flight.

We have won three of our four Premier League meetings with Leeds since they earned promotion in 2020 - including 3-0 and 2-1 wins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Team News

Cristian Romero (calf) and Son (eye) are still out.

Ryan Sessegnon could be out through injury. Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison both came off the bench in the EFL Cup and should therefore play against Leeds.

My possible Spurs starting lineup:

Lloris; Dier, Lenglet, Davies; Emerson, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Perisic; Kulusevski, Kane, Richarlison

My Prediction: 2-1

Anything other than a win would be a disaster for us… especially as Spurs won't be playing for the next six weeks. Our next game will be against Brentford on Boxing day.

With  Kulusevski and Richarlison back, I see Conte reverting to his tried-and-tested 3-4-3.

All we can do now is pray and hope for the best.

COYS! Glenn
