Preview: Spurs vs Leicester City (back to winning ways?)
After my excellent trip to Portugal – with a
shit result thrown in – we are back to earth and into the league. This time we
face the strongest Premier club in the division – Leicester City – who are
holding up the rest. Yes, we face bottom-of-the-table Leicester Titty… with news
probably imminent that their manager will get the sack… that is, if we beat him
(well, not quite Brendan Rogers, but the team he is managing to relegation).
After our disastrous match against Sporting Lisbon
– a crap team – we aim to bounce back when we welcome Leicester City to North
London for Saturday evening's battle.
We suffered a 2-0 loss in Portugal in midweek,
while Brendan Rodgers's men most recently went down 5-2 to Brighton & Hove
Albion. And when I say "down," very literally down… they are at the
very bottom of the Premier league. It wasn't that long ago that they amazed the
world by winning the league… now look at them! "Rogers out" some of
their fans cry.
Match
preview
Spurs
Conte watched his side struggle to create many
clear opportunities against Sporting. But Conte did not believe that a defeat accurately
reflected how the game went. It doesn't matter, we lost… no matter how poor
they were or better we were. A loss is still a loss.
Now we have an opportunity to recover against
the worst team in the league. And the game is going ahead despite concerns that
Queen Elizabeth II's funeral would force a postponement.
A 2-1 win over Fulham two weekends ago saw us move
onto 14 points from our first six games of the season. We could end the day top
of the table if Manchester City fail to overcome the Wolves at lunchtime.
Current leaders Woolwich will hope to respond against Brentford the following
day (Sunday).
Leicester
City
One would not knock Leicester for being beaten
by the likes of Woolwich, Yankee-Chelski or the poorer side of Manchester, United.
Still, performances in all areas of the pitch have been alarming nonetheless,
and only Bournemouth (18) have shipped more goals than Roger's team (16) so
far.
We did the double over Leicester by an aggregate
scoreline of 6-3 last season and are now out to record our fourth successive
win in this fixture.

News
Spurs
Lucas Moura is confirmed to be missing until
after the international break with his tendon problem.
Conte elected to leave Dejan Kulusevski on the
bench as he remains reluctant to drop Son from the first XI. The Swedish
international may have to accept a substitute role again, with Conte seemingly
keen to boost Son's confidence.
Ryan Sessegnon and Yves Bissouma push for
starts.
Leicester
City
Rodgers has a near-fully fit squad and should
only be working without long-term absentees Ricardo Pereira and Ryan Bertrand
for the trip to our stadium.
Jamie Vardy was dropped to the bench against
Brighton, and despite his liking for scoring against the Big Six clubs, Patson
Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho are primed to hold their places after each netting
at the Amex.
Daniel Amartey's return to fitness.
My
possible starting lineup:
Lloris;
Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Emerson, Hojbjerg, Bissouma, Sessegnon; Richarlison,
Kane, Son
My
prediction: 2-0
I say we can beat them by 2 goals to nil. If
Leicester reverts to a three-man backline, we will need to up our attacking game
to get the job done.
Rodgers's team seems to have imploded at this
early stage of the campaign. They usually ship a few goals in their encounters
with us.
As for us, I am hoping we bounce back from our midweek
disappointment and extend our winning run at home.
That is it… I am taking Jenette to the match…
hopefully to a winning game.
Up
the Spurs!
Glenn
