Match Preview: Spurs v Brighton in the FA Cup 4^th Rd (is this our year?)

Venue: Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

I also believe it is live on ITV 4 (but just check to make sure).

After defeating Ernie Wise's comedy partner, Morecombe, in the 3^rd Rd of the FA cup, we now face another seaside resorter in Brighton and Hove Albion. Where the seagulls fly in the air, shitting upon passing trade. But the good news is, is that there will be no Seagull bird shit where Brighton are going, as they have been forced to travel to N17, where the air is polluted with car exhaust fumes and smog, thus suffocating any seagulls violating our patch of land.

Team News

There isn't much to report as we have no injuries, and where players were out injured, they are back in training. So it is down to the manager to see what is what and thus pick the best of his squad to go into battle with the bird shitting seagulls.

Conte and Levy have got a ride of a lot of deadwood (either out on loan or sold), so only the best will play for us (if you can call the likes of Matt Doherty "the best"?)

The two new players

Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski joined us from Juventus.

Before the January transfer window closed, Antonio Conte made his concerns known about the low level of our current squad. Once the January Transfer window opened, Levy's henchmen jumped into action and started to make a dent in our squad problems. Granted, they couldn't get everything Conte wanted, but they made enough of a mark to keep him happy (for the time being).

Kulusevski is a loan signing with an option to buy for £33m, but that will become obligatory if Spurs finish the season in the top four or reach a certain number of appearances. As for Bentancu, he joins on a permanent deal worth £15m plus add-ons.

Future possible line up

When everything is in place, I expect our lineup will look like this:

Lloris, Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Kulusevski, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Reguilon, Lucas, Son and Kane

Thoughts

Kulusevski might play, but Bentancur won't for the Brighton game. Betancur still needs Government approval, and he isn't in the country yet (as I believe it).

I think we are good enough to beat Brighton, as we've improved a lot under Conte since he took over from shapeless former Wolves boss (Nuno). Granted, Brighton are a good side, but this time around, I think it will be our day. There are no replays; everything will be resolved on the day.

We are sitting 7^th in the league, but only 9 pts behind third-placed Chelski. Take our games in hand and convert them (with any luck) to winning points, and we would be on even points with Roman Abramovich's Borg (those of Star Trek fame). Yes, a lot of "ifs," but why not… if we can't dream, what else is there left? And as they say, it isn't over until the fat penguin stops singing and waddles back to its mate.

The transfer window wasn't that brilliant, but I think enough was done to create improvement in certain areas. The real test of Levy and co will be in the summer transfer window when we should see some more shit shipped out and new blood in.

My prediction

3-1.

 After this game, we've got Southampton at home (another shitting seagull team). In both games, I am taking Janette to her first experience at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. An Ipswich fan, who now also co-supports us, will have a fantastic time at our stadium. I just hope that the result will be the same as when I took her to Portman Road, where the Tractor boys won 2-1. I am sure that she will not only enjoy the wonders of Tottenham Premium but also enjoy the company of my Tottenham group.

Some other news

Steve Hitchen resigned from his role at Tottenham Hotspur amid the ongoing power shift at the club. His influence diluted after the appointment of former Juventus transfer man Fabio Paratici last year. His removal or resignation is part of the changing ideology at Spurs. But to be fair, he has been the overseer of some crap coming into our club. Out with the shit (players as well) in with the good seems to be the new moto at Spurs. Is Levy trying to redeem himself in the eyes of our fans?
