SUN 22 AUG 2021PREMIER LEAGUE
Venue:
Molineux Stadium
After our excellent win over City, I have high
hopes for this game. The game against Pacos in the Europa Conference League
wasn't the same team that played against City; that team was filled with
youngsters from the Tottenham academy and won't be playing against Wolves. I am
also sure Nuno will want to get one over his old team, as well.
We will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins
at the start of this season when we travel to Molineux on Sunday. We opened our
crusade with an impressive 1-0 victory over City last weekend; at the same time,
the Wolves began life under their replacement to Nuno with their new head coach
Bruno Lage, which ended with a 1-0 loss at Leicester City.
Another victory this weekend would lead us into
back-to-back Premier League matches with Watford and Crystal Palace on either
side of the international break. It will also be interesting to see whether any
more new players arrive before the transfer window is closed.
TEAM
NEWS
Wolves
Striker Raul Jimenez could make his first
competitive appearance at Molineux nine months after returning from a fractured
skull last weekend. Defensive duo Yerson Mosquera and Willy Boly remain out
with injuries.
Spurs
Nuno Espirito Santo says he will decide whether
to field unsettled striker Harry Kane after Saturday's training session. Others
are set to return following our midweek game.
My
Prediction
This is a very early return to Molineux for Nuno,
and I think Wolves will cause us problems, however, I believe we are good
enough to overcome any difficulties they might pose.
Wolves lost at Leicester even though they played
OK, and they created a few chances. The big news was Raul Jimenez's return
after a severe injury for them.
Prediction:
1-4
My
possible starting lineup:
Lloris;
Tanganga, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp, Dele; Lucas, Son, Bergwijn

MATCH
FACTS
Head-to-head
Wolves'
1-0 Premier League win in 2010 is their only home victory against us in 10
meetings in all competitions.
We
have won four Premier League fixtures away to Wolves, a tally bettered only by
Arsenal and Liverpool, who have both claimed five victories at Molineux.
We
can win consecutive top-flight games against Wolves for the first time since
2004.
Wolves
Wolves
have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions for the first time since
a run of six in 2017.
They
could sustain defeat in their opening two league fixtures for just the second
time in 36 seasons.
Wolves
failed to win their opening home game in all three Premier League campaigns
under Nuno Espirito Santo.
They
are unbeaten in each of the last 33 Premier League matches in which they scored
the opening goal (W28, D5).
Wolves
could fail to score in their opening two league fixtures for the first time
since 1978.
Raul
Jimenez has scored in three of his four Premier League appearances against
Spurs.
Tottenham
Hotspur
Nuno
can become the fourth consecutive Tottenham boss to win his first two Premier
League matches. However, we have won our opening two Premier League fixtures in
only one of the past six seasons.
We
have won just four of our previous 15 league away games (D5, L6) and two of the
past 10 in which striker Harry Kane was missing.
The
teams run of scoring in 16 successive matches is the longest current streak by
any Premier League side.
Son
had scored six goals in his last seven Premier League appearances when Kane was
absent.
Thoughts
Well, that is it. As I have said above, we can't
include our conference game when assessing the team as that team was a different
one that played against City. In fact, it was 11 different players. It won't be
an easy match, but as you see above, I've predicted we will win 4-1. In the
game against City, I predicted we would win, and some of my other compatriots
in our WhatsApp group thought I was mad, even more so, as I also predicted Brentford
would beat Arsenal. As we are talking about the Gooners, I shall go for a draw
between them and Chelsea, or the Russian bears will win by a comfortable margin.
I can't see the Gooners winning this game.
I shall be going to the game tomorrow, my friend
Mel will be taking me in his car. Back to football normality… or near enough.
Stay safe,
Glenn
