Grealish could be good news for Spurs
Grealish could be good news for Spurs
By Don Scully
Manchester City
have put in a £100m bid for Jack Grealish,
and if they get their man, we should see dancing in the streets, nightclubs,
kindergarten, and other nooks and crannies where Spurs fans can be found lurking.
Why? Because City won’t want to spend £260million on two men, which would mean that
they will give the Kane saga a rest. Of course, there will still be Chelski, United
and maybe even PSG loitering around street corners in the hope of capturing
their man… but one step at a time. Let us look at it as if all were skittles,
knock one down, and they all might fall as well… then again, maybe not.
The
Telegraph newspaper stated that Man City has made a gigantic £100 million offer
for the Aston Villa player. Guardiola is enthusiastic to accomplish the expensive
record transfer in the English league.
Of course, Villa
would want to keep their talisman and have said as much publicly, however such
eye-watering amounts of money will force the mediocre football club to sell, as
they won’t be able to keep their paws away from such a big payday. Saying all
that, Villa have offered Grealish £200,000 per week, but that would be peanuts
compared to what he would get at City. At present, Grealish has a contract with
Villa until 2025, but as we all know, contracts aren’t usually worth the paper
they are written on.
So, all this
looks good news for Spur and Daniel Levy (unless Levy secretly wants to get rid
of the 28 year old geriatric; in footballing terms, that is).
Fabrizio
Romano reported recently that Levy is still denying stories that Kane is going
to leave. All confusing stuff, but isn’t that the point? Maybe somebody has
been commissioned to send out rambling stories so that they can work under a camouflage
of misperception. To what point? No doubt, all will be revealed eventually!
The only
official bid presented by City was priced at £100m but was quickly turned down
by Levy; hoping for more, I would imagine (report by journalist Fabrizio
Romano).
As for Kane:
The Telegraph had reported that the elderly Kane plans to tell Daniel Levy of
his desire to join City.
My thinking on the matter
If it is accurate
and City get the Aston Villa player, then I would say to Kane, “of course you
can go to City, my dear!” [all said in Levy’s posh-boy English accountants dialect]
have a good snigger at the back of the playground area and then send the senior
player off on his quest to the land of City, have another giggle, count to ten
and wait for the knocking on the door, accompanied by “let me in Daniel, I am
sorry…” and continue on regardless. I have no doubt all fanciable stuff, but we
live in a strange footballing Daniel Levy twilight zone world where anything is
possible. Amen!
