Sanchez/ Romero; one in, one out?

Sanchez/ Romero; one in, one out?

With all the speculation going on, on who is going to be sold and who will come in;  what are your thoughts on the latest news that the club are contemplating moving Davinson Sanchez on as part of a deal to sign Cristian Romero, of Atalanta, according to journalist Gianluigi Longari.

As has been reported in the press, Christian Romero has emerged as a favourite to become our first central defensive recruit (Football.London has revealed that the two clubs are in advanced talks over a transfer).

The young player is only 23-year-old and was impressive at the back for his team, Atalanta, last season. And in the process he helped his side to a third-place finish in Serie A group.

The player's agent, Néstor Villarreal, has revealed that things are being worked on behind the scenes, and he could leave if the right money offer was made (information from Gol Caracol). But Tottenham are not the only club interested in him; the international Columbian player has also been linked with a move to Sevilla, having been mentioned as a counterbalance in a deal for Jules Kounde (reported by Gianluca Di Marzio).

My thoughts

As we all know, Sanchez had failed to show his mettle while with us, even though he has the ability to become one of the best defenders. He joined us from Ajax but sadly has struggled while here. He has shown scanty attentiveness and poor play. Remember our game against Manchester City on their ground; his defending was laughable, with shouts from the crowd of "off". I was at that game and had often heard comments about his play, but not just at the City game. Because of him, Gundogan went on to score for the sky blues, and there were many other examples.

The trouble is, when a player comes to a club like Tottenham, some struggle, while others fit in nicely; he struggled, therefore, the swap deal (if it comes off) would be a no brainer. However, if he doesn't go, then he will have his time to prove himself under our new coach… But I would imagine that Nuno will only give him so much time before he is pushed into the sidelines. Premier League football is a high pressured game with total concentration needed.

Stay safe,

Glenn
