It is all going well at Tottenham training, under Nuno

Like the first day at school, you feel nervous. However, when you’ve been at school for a while, but the teacher has changed, you are then again feeling apprehensive. In fact, a new teacher and pupils alike are also feeling anxious together. It must be the same for Nuno and his players when they first met each other. The good news is that on Nuno and the players first meeting, everything was great. According to various sources, it was said that everybody felt “a relief” on the first day. It was also noted that everybody enjoyed Nuno’s training. All were tickety-boo.

That well-known bible of sport, the  Athletic,  reported that the players have reacted positively to Nuno Espirito Santo’s first seven days in charge of training.

Some players have said that Nuno’s training is a step up from Mourinho’s, who was sacked in April, as it is more intense. It has been recounted that players had complained that under Mourinho, they were ‘underworked,’ but now, under Nuno, the training is a lot more challenging, which comes as a relief.

The Athletic also reported that there is a feeling of a new start under Nuno at their training camp, with Nuno being an excellent communicator on the training pitch. The article also said that he likes to be active during training sessions and even in warm-ups. Training and fitness work has been so challenging that some players had to sit out the pre-season friendly against Leyton Orient.

Thoughts

Through my contacts, I’ve heard similar stories. I know when Mourinho was in charge, some of the players had issues with his training methods or lack thereof. Whatever; that was in the past, we now start afresh.

Everything I have heard coming out of Tottenham has been all positive. Let us hope that that replicates itself on the field of play. All we need now is the right players in, the tired ones out, and Nuno starts to work his magic. Oh, and he is given the cash to take the team to a different level.

Be safe!
