Levy and the
club wanted Graham "Harry" Potter as our next manager and were
prepared to offer him the job.
Yes, Tottenham
have ended their interest in Harry Potter, the magician that got girls hearts
throbbing, after it emerged that they would have to pay over £20 million in compensation
and no wizard, according to Levy, is worth that. No matter how many powers he wants
to bring to Levy's rescue.
So, where does that leave Tottenham?
Well, Roberto
Martinez is still in contention for the manager's job, no wizard himself, and a
substandard manager while in England, however, he has been doing a reasonable
job with Belgium. Then there is Nuno Espirito Santo, both in contention after
learning that they would have to part with £20million to land JK's wizard and his merry backroom staff.
As we all know
– Levy tells us enough times – that Tottenham's financial issues are a result
of the coronavirus pandemic, so the boss man has ruled out the Seagulls manager
with cash at the club being tight.
As for Martinez,
he will lead Belgium into their Euro 2020 round of 16 clash against Portugal (27th
June). But nothing is as simple as one hopes where Levy is concerned. It was
reported back in May by The Daily Mail that the former Wigan and Everton failure
would be interested in the Tottenham job after this summer's tournament comes
to an end. It has also been leaked that Espirito Santo has agreed terms with
Spurs and could be appointed by this evening. Such muddle and confusion (but Levy doesn't do simple!).
My thoughts
So there you
have it, Harry the Magician was Levy's favourite, but, like always, money was
the issue; £20million would be a big outlay for Levy to prise any manager away from
their current club. However, a free
agent such as Espirito Santo would be an attractive option from a monetary point
of view.
With money
dictating who we get to manage our team, nothing should surprise us. There are
so many unemployed managers out there who will probably accept a hell of a lot
less money than an excellent robust manager would do that that sort of person
will wet Levy's lips and make his eye's sparkle.
All the best,
Glenn
COYS!
