My Eyes Have Seen The Glory: the book, the legend (Micky Hazard) and the event!

I am a Spurs fan, you are a Spurs fan (I hope), and if you are a Spurs fan, you know Micky Hazard. I’ve seen him play, home, away and at Wembley in various Cup finals. He was a pleasure to watch, with his magnificent skills dazzling us wherever we watched him. After his playing days were behind him, you still could see him around the Tottenham circuit, at White Hart Lane and now the new Tottenham Stadium. Personally, I’ve met him many times and often had many great chats with him as he reminisced about his past Glorys.

Micky Hazard, the legend, this time around is being interviewed by the Simon Dee of today, Rick Mayston, about a book that will take the Spurs football world by storm. The book: MY Eyes Have Seen the Glory, and through its pages, you, the reader, will see the Glory in the many interviews it conducts with great Spurs legends (including Micky).

MY EYES HAVE SEEN THE GLORY is the brand new book from MOONEY & LAMBERT that celebrates the 60th ANNIVERSARY of the famous TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR League & Cup DOUBLE of 1961 (yes, I was there… just!).

First of all, let me tell you a bit about Micky Hazard; for those that are a bit too young to have been born when he graced the Spurs turf, well, he was a central midfielder. He is best remembered for his time at Tottenham Hotspur, where he began and ended his career. In between, he had spells at Chelsea, Portsmouth and Swindon Town.

Micky signed a professional contract with Spurs and made his League debut in a 3–0 victory versus Everton on 19 April 1980, aged 20 (a game I witnessed). He was a member of the Tottenham side that won the 1982 FA Cup and UEFA Cup in 1984, where his crosses led to goals in both legs of the final against Anderlecht. After Spurs, he played for many clubs before retiring on 23 April 1995.

In this remarkable and emotional Interview, SPURS Legend MICKY HAZARD talks about the book; his love of Spurs as an ex-player AND a Fan; Ossie Ardiles and Cliff Jones; and the personal experiences of walking out at WHITE HART LANE and hearing the crowd sing his name! Watch the Agent Fox Media interview, and you will be dazzled by Micky’s charm, warm smile as he reminisces about those glory days.

A bit about the book:

“GLORY DAYS. GLORY NIGHTS. Interviews with 40 Legends of The Lane alongside the art of Paul Trevillion!

The 1960–61 season was Tottenham Hotspur Football Club’s 43rd of competitive football and 11th consecutive year in the English top flight. It was also the club’s most successful year ever up to that point, as they won the Football League First Division for the second time and the FA Cup for the third time, thus becoming the first English club to achieve the league and FA Cup Double in the modern era. This year, to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of that year, Mooney and Lambert are proud to bring you My Eyes Have Seen the Glory.

Forty legends of White Hart Lane from the double era to the modern-day relive, in their own words, what it was like to play for, play against, watch and manage the mighty Spurs.

This unique book assembles the largest-ever group of Legends to be interviewed about Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in one place including: Darren Anderton, Ossie Ardiles, Ray Clemence, Alfie Conn, Jermain Defoe, Alan Gilzean, Micky Hazard, Glenn Hoddle, Martin Jol, Cliff Jones, Ledley King, Gary Mabbutt, Alan Mullery, Harry Redknapp, and Steve Perryman. Their passion and deep admiration for the club shines through.

Featuring wonderful illustrations by the legendary sports artist and illustrator Paul Trevillion and incredible photos by Colorsport.

We get to the heart of the club’s landmark successes in the double year, the subsequent attempts to emulate those achievements (including the incredible arrival of Ossie and Ricky) and the cup successes of the ‘80s through to Tottenham’s recent re-emergence at the higher end of the table once more, playing in one of the greatest club stadiums in the world.

My Eyes Have Seen the Glory is a must-read for all Spurs fans who are fascinated by Tottenham Hotspur’s rich history and want to relive at first hand the Glory, dedication, commitment, trials and tribulations shown inside the dressing room – and on the hallowed pitch of White Hart Lane.”
