Match report: Manchester City 3 Spurs 0 (the nail banking into the coffin).
Match report:
Manchester City 3 Spurs 0 (the nail banking
into the coffin).
An apt quote (the nail banking in the coffin); not quite there yet, but
close. In six games we've won one. Last year things looked bright, we were top
of the league, and our eyes were set towards glory and in all competitions. One
by one the trophies started falling by the wayside; League title, FA Cup, now
just two left (League Cup & Europa). Unless we get a miracle turnaround, we'll
all be looking upwards from the abyss.
We are eighth in the league, with Aston Villa below us by one point (they've
got 35pts). But Villa have two extra games to play. All you want to do is put
your head in your hands and cry… but the fear of that is, just like Lloris, you
might drop it.
Where to now? What does Mourinho do, or even Levy? Just grin and bear
it and hope things get better? As for the fans; they both must be thinking,
thank god we are not in the stadium witnessing this (home, yes, but not in the stadium).
As for social media, you don't want to ask.
In my match preview, I said, my head said a draw, my heart said win; it
ended up neither.
To the match and my
thoughts thrown in:
At this rate, I think City will run away with the league… they might
also run away with the League Cup. They are seven points behind Leicester Titty,
with a game in hand, while their League Cup opponents are… let me thing! They
must be laughing all the way to their trophy cabinet.
Manchester City extended their winning run to 15 games and their lead
at the top of the Premier League to seven points as they easily humiliated us
at the Etihad Stadium. Their Ilkay Gundogan scored twice after Rodri had put
City ahead from the penalty spot midway through the opening period. The rest is
too painful to continue in this vein. We lost, they won, they smile, we cry. All I will say, It was a chastening night for Mourinho
and us. On the subject of Mourinho, I wonder what bollocks he will come up with
to soothe the viewer's minds, Levy and all the children out there that believe
in fairies.?
Just think, when they won our first meeting in November, we were top of the table, and they were 9th. Over three months later, the positions have changed. Their prospects looked shit, ours, excellent… now their standing is Glorious, while ours is shit and suicidal. Since then, City have taken 41 points from a possible 45 to take a decisive advantage in the title race. In contrast, we have now collected 16 points in 14 games and lost four games out of five in all competitions and remain in eighth. Put your hands up if you want to cry or blow your brains out?
I wonder what Mourinho and Levy are thinking now? Mourinho; what the
hell have I got into? Levy; what the fuck have I done?
On this evidence, few will give Mourinho any chance of overcoming Pep
Guardiola at Wembley when we meet in the Carabao Cup final on 25 April. On the
positive side; one-off matches can be like Russian roulette.
Bale problem goes
on
He was reinstated to the squad after a rather odd week, in which
Mourinho said Bale had asked to be left out of the FA Cup defeat by Everton in
midweek because he did not feel right, then rejected the insinuation of a
social media post that he was training well, Bale was not introduced until the
71st minute. By then, we were three down, and Mourinho had already used two substitutes.
Bale did show a moment of inspiration for the visitors in open play,
when he took possession from Rodri, then beat three men before shooting too
close to Ederson from the edge of the box, allowing the City keeper to save,
but nothing more. I can't see him staying beyond this season at this rate.
We need a swift change of fortune, otherwise, we are in danger of turning into a damp squib (if we haven't already).
The stats
Manchester
City have not trailed for a single minute in any of their last 15 Premier League
games, since a 2-0 loss at our Tottenham Stadium in November.
We have lost
four of our last five Premier League games, as many defeats as in their
previous 28 league matches.
City are the
first side to keep 14 clean sheets from their opening 23 Premier League games
in a season since Manchester United (17) and Chelsea (14) in 2008-09.
We have
conceded a combined eight goals in our past two games (5 v Everton, 3 v Man
City) - the most Jose Mourinho has conceded across a two-game period in all
competitions in his managerial career.
What's next for us (apart
from immediate suicide)?
We resume our Europa League campaign on Thursday against Austrian side
Wolfsberger in a last-32 first-leg tie that has been switched to Budapest
(17:55). Then on Sunday the 21st, at 12.00pm we face the Spammers at
their ground. And you don't need reminding that we were 3-0 up at the Tottenham
Stadium when we last met them, only for them to get three back, thus ending in
a draw. I bet they've got a smile on their faces when we next meet up!
I won't wish you pleasant dreams, just stay safe, put the bottle away
and make sure all your weapons are safely locked up… we don't want any
accidents through Tottenham-related-depression.
Best Regards, Glenn
COYS!
