Carabao Cup semi-final draw: we get Brentford
We've been drawn against Brentford, while holders Manchester
City will travel to face Manchester United in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Championship side Brentford, the lowest-ranked club left in
the competition, are away to us in the other semi-final.
The ties are single-leg matches instead of the traditional
two-legged format; this is to ease fixture congestion caused by the season's
delayed start.
We will be playing in the week commencing 4 January 2021.
Manchester United progressed with a 2-0 win at Everton in
the fourth and final quarter-final tie on Wednesday. They take on City, who
they recently met in the Premier League on 12 December, the two teams both drew.
Manchester City were 4-1 winners at Arsenal on Tuesday, and are looking to win
the competition for the fourth successive season, but not if we have anything to
do with it they won't. They beat United 3-2 on aggregate in last season's
two-legged semi-final. No doubt United will want revenge over that result.
We beat Stoke City 3-1 on their ground on Wednesday to
advance to the Semi-Finals. Our meeting with Brentford, who beat Newcastle
United 1-0 on Tuesday, will be the first between the teams since 2000.
Jose Mourinho is a four-time winner of the competition, but we
have not won a major trophy since 2008.
Merry Christmas and Up the Spurs
