I could have been at this game. Well, I mean… I could have been at Spurs to watch it on their TV screens with a meal. A few of my WhatsApp group friends did (Rick & Beverley), however, to travel over a hundred miles to watch it on TV and pay for the privilege (plus food) and no drinking (because I would have to drive) wasn't worth it. 

All socially distancing affair it was (Daniel Levy doesn't want to break the Government guidelines!). Besides, I didn't fancy sitting on a table with just me, myself and I (even though the three of us are good company). But it would have been great to be back at the stadium. Then again, if they do another one of these meal-away-games-watching-tv at the Tottenham stadium, then I just might... you never know. 

Spurs Restaurant the night of the Burley game

After two outstanding away games (United & Southampton), we came down with a bump; our first half against Burnley was dour and no goals. Spurs had most of the possession, but with Burnley getting the good shots in. Then the 45 minutes were up—a chance for Mourinho to shake up the players. A lot was riding on this game.

To cut a long story short; Son and Kane linked up for the only goal as we beat Burnley. Kane headed Erik Lamela's pass into the pathway of Son, who headed home our first effort on target. That was the 29th time the pair have united for a Premier League goal, while Son is now the division's leading scorer with eight goals.

Burnley had a goal ruled out for offside and Kane clearing a James Tarkowski header off the line. Ashley Westwood and Johann Gudmundsson also forced Hugo Lloris into some good saves.

Son and Kane are the real deal.

They have had a good partnership in recent years, but this season they seem to have taken it to a higher level. The pair have linked up for four goals against Southampton, two against Manchester United and West Ham and now another against Burnley. Kane seemed to know Son would be there when he skimmed Lamela's corner on, and Son made no mistake as he hit the ball with his head and scored. Our Son (nice one) is now the top scorer in the League, while Kane has been directly involved in 13 goals, the most ever recorded by a player in his team's first six Premier League games. They have linked up 29 times for league goals in total. Only the rent boys of West London, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard (36) have ever managed to do so more often.

A hard slog, but Mourinho will be delighted.

We were sloppy in possession and gifting Burnley several chances with defensive mistakes - and hardly created a chance before Son's goal.

As for Kane, well his prominent role in that match, before Son scored, had been to clear a Tarkowski header off his line.

We are the top scorers in the League but had perhaps taken criticism of our last league game to heart.

The Burnley result put us in fifth in the League, but what is more critical, we are only two points behind league leaders, Everton. Out of the top five, only Liverpool, Leicester and ourselves won this weekend. All looking good and rosie so far.

Matches this weekend

This weekend sees Liverpool play West Ham, so let us hope for a Spammers victory, while Newcastle take on Everton (come on you Magpies). Also; let us hope for a Leeds victory over Leicester City. As for Villa, well they take on the Saints, so let us hope they do to Villa what they did to Everton. Oh, and we must beat – of course – Brighton. If all that comes to fruition, then Bob's your uncle and your aunt fanny is just that… a fanny.

Of course, early days, early days… However, our WhatsApp group has put a bet on for us to win the League and if that prediction turns out correct then over £8,000 is coming our way… and the League Trophy of course; oh, mustn't also forget the other silverware… which also includes all cup competitions… I know what you are thinking… dream on. And why not! Dreams do come true on occasions.

Match stats

We recorded clean sheets in successive games in all competitions, having failed to record a shutout in 10 games stretching back to last season.

Jose Mourinho has not faced any side as manager more often without losing than Burnley (10 - W6 D4), winning five of his six away matches against the Clarets.

We have lost just one of our past 12 Premier League games played on Monday (W9 D2), going down 1-0 against Man City in October 2018.

Harry Kane has recorded eight assists in six Premier League appearances this season, the most he has ever provided in a single campaign in the competition.

What's next for us?

We go to Belgium to face Royal Antwerp in the Europa League on Thursday (17:55) before a home game against Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday (19:15).

We need to get our first home League win against Brighton this Sunday. COYS!
