After a pretty good run (that is after the Everton game), not necessarily good results (i.e. the Newcastle/ VAR game), we step down to a lower trophy level and face Chelsea, at the Tottenham stadium, in the Carabao Cup (Tuesday night). A game that is usually for the top Premier League teams to send out their second 11 so that they can be given a runout. Both us and Chelsea will try to bounce back from disappointing draws in the Premier League over the weekend. In our case, we deserved to win and was cheated out of our victory (by VAR), where Chelsea deserved to lose to WBA (but cheated death in the dying minutes, in fact after the whistle was blown). But, such is life! They aren't called "Rentboys" for nothing. They'd sell their planet Ur-anus for thirty pieces of silver.

The game will be our second in a spell of three in five days, a gruelling early-season schedule already stretching our squad to its limits.

We will be without Son because of a hamstring problem. Gareth Bale and Japhet Tanganga are on the sidelines. As for Moussa Sissoko, who was due to take his place on the bench at the weekend, he withdrew because of illness.

Because of the problems we've got with fixture congestion I am sure that Mourinho will rotate the squad more than he would like. Which could mean that new signing Sergio Reguilon could be handed his debut against Chelsea? Tanguy Ndombele will be hoping for another chance to impress after a strong start to the season.

My prediction:

Because of the injuries and fixture congestion, I am not sure how much Mourinho wants this game or even its competition. I know that if Pochettino was in charge, he would send out his weakest squad as he had no respect for this competition or even the FA Cup. But Pochettino isn't Mourinho. Nonetheless, I am always optimistic and shall go for a 2-1 or 3-1 victory (that is to us, of course). Also, we've got home advantage, not that that makes any difference in an empty, eerie stadium. One would have thought that such ghostly surroundings would have benefited Chelsea than the more vibrant,  prosperous and cheerful Spurs. All together now # Spurs are on their way to Wembley, The kings are claiming the throne, Everybody will be singing "when the Spurs go marching home" #.
