A possible purchase for Tottenham: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton
A possible purchase for Tottenham: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton
Now, I don't usually go in for speculating who we are going to buy or
not buy, as far as I am concerned it is a mug's game. Every day we are linked
with a player who might or might not be joining us. So far in this Transfer
window, there has probably been 10,20 or even 50 players linked to Spurs. All
bullshit! Most of this is for the papers to fill there back pages. Tomorrow
another player appears just to wind everybody up.
However, the speculation on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg seems to be growing
quite speedily.
Multiple journalists – that many - have now claimed that we are inching
towards a wrap-up in the transfer of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton.
Earlier in the week, Sky Sports stated that Tottenham and Southampton had
agreed on a fee of £15m for the central midfielder. Then Radio Solent
journalist Adam Blackmore hurled ice-cold water on the assertions that a deal
was done, revealing that Spurs were still falling short of Southampton's
valuation. See what I mean! That is why it is a mug's game speculating on who
or not we might purchase.
But today (Thursday) The Sun jumped in on the bandwagon and reported
that a £20m fee plus add-ons had been agreed between the two clubs and the contract
would likely be signed over the weekend. Hurray! Or maybe not.
Football experts close to the Tottenham pulse; Football
London's Alasdair Gold and Dan
Kilpatrick from the Evening Standard have now stated that the
deal is inching towards a decision, as is the transfer of Walker-Peters to
Southampton. Both respected journalists claimed that the difference between the
Hojbjerg and Walker-Peters price tags remains £3m (good old Levy, still trying
to squeeze every drop of juice out of that orange), meaning that we – not me
personally, but Spurs - would effectively be paying £3m plus the academy man
for Hojbjerg.
So, there you have it. Am I the mug for playing the journalists game or
have I picked a winner out of all the dudes? Some say I am young and gifted (I
wish both), some will just laugh when everything is proven to be horse shit
dressed up as a baked apple pie. But whatever it will turn out to be at least I've
kept you all amused at whether I am either a genius (wrapped up in a Spurs
shirt) or foolishness (dressed up in a Santa Clause suit in the middle of
Summer) for playing the journalist pass the parcel game. Whatever, it is not
even the first day of the month… so no pinch punch here.
Best Regards, Glenn
