The path to Vicarage Road this Sunday at 4pm.
I’ve got my ticket for this interesting away match. Last season we were held to a draw with one of our players being sent off. If we had won a few of those draws, we might have ended up the league table a lot higher than we actually did. But it wasn’t to be. Now we must content ourselves with this season and progressing a lot further than we did last season. I think we can do it.
Last season I parked at my cousin's house, then took a number 114 bus to Ruislip Manor station and then the Metropolitan underground train to Harrow-on-the-Hill. From there to Watford station. Once leaving the station, it was about 30 minutes walk, or less (depending on how fast one is). It is quite straightforward.
I would check the tube availability as I believe there will be some work on that day at some stations.
If you are going by car and want to park nearer to the ground then there is a Vicarage Road Girls school, which is close to the stadium, where you can park. They charge £10 when I last checked. On the inner ring road, there is the Church Multi-storey car park, and they charge £1.00 an hour.
I shall leave my house (in Berkshire) at 12ish (O.K. at 4pm). Hopefully, it will give me time for a chat and a cup of tea at my cousins.
For those that are interested. The ground was opened in 1922. Capacity is only 21,577.
We will be in the away end, in the Vicarage Road stand. There will probably be 2,200 of us to cheer our team on. So, get behind the team (I am sure that doesn’t need saying as our away fans are one of the best in the world).
I’ve been there quite a few times, and I have found the area, fans and stadium pleasant. The food is standard football food (hot dogs, burgers etc.) but there are a few shops a few minutes walk away from the stadium.
I am looking forward to seeing two teams with a 100% record face off. My prediction for the match is for us to win 5-1. I put it as a high score because of our achievements/ results so far this season. I just hope this prediction doesn’t come back to bite me.
TEAM NEWS
Watford
Watford manager Javi Gracia will restore his first XI after changing his entire team for the Carabao Cup win over Reading in midweek. Gerard Deulofeu could be on the bench following his return from injury, but Tom Cleverley remains out.
Spurs
We are without Hugo Lloris due to a thigh injury and Moussa Sissoko with a hamstring problem. However, Vorm is adequate cover Lloris. Sissoko’s absent won’t trouble us.
Son Heung-min is away on international duty while Erik Lamela faces a late fitness test. To me, Son is an essential member of the squad, but his absence won’t trouble us at the moment (unless we have significant injuries).
Apart from Lloris, the squad should be roughly the same as when we faced United.
Oh, and don’t forget, we face Watford again (League Cup), this time – probably – at a neutral ground in a couple of weeks time.
It all leaves me to say Come On You Spurs!
